The form incorporates many recognizable techniques used in the earlier forms of this system. It is considered the sister form to Mei Hwa Kwon.

Kum Gang Kwon means "Golden Fist" and refers to the multiple striking techniques used in the form that deal with Iron Body or hardening techniques.
